Covered balconies extend the experience of the residence outdoors. Wrought iron railings frame views across the lawn and toward the river, with the stone facade providing a richly textured backdrop.
Mornings on the balconies carry the distant sound of reveille from Carderock across the Potomac—a tradition that greets the day and accompanies the raising of the flag.

Across the Potomac
Carderock & the morning tradition
Across the river lies Carderock, home of the Navy’s David Taylor Model Basin. Dedicated in 1939, the basin bears the name of Rear Admiral David W. Taylor, whose pioneering work helped establish model testing as an essential part of naval ship design.
Reveille takes its name from the French word for waking. Long used to call troops to the start of their day, it also accompanies morning flag-raising ceremonies—a daily expression of service and respect. Heard from the balconies across the water, it adds a distinctive connection to the history of this stretch of the Potomac.
